The biggest event in cricket, ICC World Cup 2019, is finally here. The quadrennial cricketing extravaganza will officially kick-off tonight with a grand opening ceremony in London.
The opening encounter will be played between England and South Africa on Thursday, i.e. May 30th.
A total of 10 teams will battle it out for the 2019 World Cup and there will be no easy games for any team in the round-robin format. All teams will play each other just once, those finishing in the top four will progress to the semi-finals. The summit clash is scheduled to take place on July 14th at Lords, considered to be the Home of Cricket.
In this age of fast cricket and astonishing run-scoring feats, experts are telling people to expect a run fest in what are likely to be batting friendly conditions throughout the tournament in England.
So which of the teams are likely to emerge favourites to lift the trophy in the 50-over-format? Which are the key players to watch out for this tournament? And what makes the 12th edition of the tournament special? Let’s find out in depth today.
