Ghana, June 2010.
Getting off the plane we walk into a wall of heat. The earth steams after the last rain. New scents greet us. People and cabs make up the soundtrack.
We rolled off our couch in Germany to experience the first African Soccer World Cup up close – right here in Ghana. Football connoisseurs hold out for Ghana as an insider tip. And Ghana plays Germany in the preliminaries.
We drive from Accra to Kumasi and on to Tamale. We packed malaria prophylaxis, T-Shirts from German football fans and a curious question:
What role does football play in the life of Ghanians?
Black Stars – Ghanian football fever is a documentary film about the role of football in the life of Ghanians.
